Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
Eastern Connecticut State University’s Wind Ensemble recently presented a concert in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). One of the performers was Emily Miclon of Enfield. Miclon, who played percussion in the concert, majors in Political Science. Conducted by Kelly Watkins, the ensemble presented a collection of pieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Philip Sousa, Ronald Lo Presti and Gustav Holst.The talented musicians of Eastern Connecticut State University’s Concert Band recently presented a concert in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). Emily Miclon of Enfield was one of the performers. Miclon played percussion in the concert and majors in Political Science. Allison Smolenski of Enfield was also one of the performers. Smolenski played clarinet in the concert and majors in Criminology. The Eastern Concert Band is a unique blend of musicians comprised of Eastern Connecticut State University students, faculty, alumni, local music educators and talented musicians from the greater eastern Connecticut area. Performance repertoire includes classic band literature as well as challenging works from contemporary composers.
Goodwin College, East Hartford CT
Goodwin College’s President’s List for the summer 2017 session includes 225 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Among them were Enfield residents Senka Birmingham, Jennifer Chamberlain, Carley Evans, Catherine Grande (Murnan), Kaitlyn Jameson, Nicholas Moschetti, Olivia Roberts, Beth-Anne Roy, Nicole Rychling and Magdalena Smedra.Goodwin College announces that 731 students achieved Dean’s List status for the summer 2017 session. Honorees from Enfield were Lauren Attenello, Natasia Baker, Jenn Bergendahl, Senka Birmingham, Cassondra Britton, Jennifer Chamberlain, Heather Cosby, Stephen Davis, Katherine Dillon, Carley Evans, Catherine Grande (Murnan), Paul Hannan, Kaitlyn Jameson, Julie Lorenzetti, Nicholas Moschetti, Jessica Neff, Olivia Roberts, Beth-Anne Roy, Brianna Ruggerio, Jonathan Rychling, Nicole Rychling, Magdalena Smedra and June Vaine. Dean’s List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.
